Trump releases map of the US with Canada as the 51st state

US President-elect Donald Trump today again suggested that Canada become the 51st state of the United States, sharing a map on his Truth Social network that shows Canada as part of the United States.

Trump posted two images on the Truth Social platform: one with a map of the United States and Canada with the words “United States” covering the territories of both countries, and another with Canada covered with the American flag, Fox News reports.

The Republican has suggested several times before that Canada should become a state of the United States, but yesterday he ruled out the possibility of using military force to annex Canada. However, he did not rule out the possibility of economic pressure.

Trump, who recently won the mandate as US president, said that the border between the two countries is an “artificial line” and threatened to impose a 25 percent tariff on imports from Canada, which exports 75 percent of its goods and services to the United States.

On Monday, after Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau resigned from his post and the leadership of the Liberal Party, Trump said that it would be a good idea for Canada to unite with the United States and that “many people in Canada would like to become the 51st state of the United States.”

“Many people in Canada would like to see the country become the 51st state. The United States can no longer tolerate the huge trade deficits and subsidies that Canada needs to survive. Justin Trudeau knew this and resigned. If Canada united with the United States, there would be no tariffs, taxes would be significantly lower, and they would be completely safe from the threats of Russian and Chinese ships that constantly surround them. Together, what a great nation we would be!!!” Trump wrote on Truth Social, reported the Canadian public service CBC.

Trudeau rejected the idea on Monday, noting that “workers and communities in both our countries benefit from being our largest trading and security partners.”

In recent days, Trump has demanded that Denmark cede Greenland to the United States. – They should give it up because we need it for national security. It’s for the free world. I’m talking about protecting the free world, Trump said. At the same time, he refused to rule out the possibility of using military and economic means to force Denmark to take such a step.

He also demands the return of the Panama Canal from Panama: “We gave the Panama Canal to Panama. We didn’t give it to China, and they abused it.”

Trump also announced the renaming of the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America.
