Doctors constantly recommend that we eat as much fish as possible, but we must be careful about which type we choose
According to experts, fish is one of the healthiest foods, so it is recommended to include it in our menu as often as possible, at least two to three times a week. However, few people know that among some of the most popular types of fish, there are those that can cause more harm to the body than good.
Fish should be eaten because it contains omega-3 fatty acids, it is a good source of vitamins D, E, A and B vitamins, as well as minerals. In addition, it satisfies the daily need for protein.
What types of fish are recommended for eating?
Experts recommend eating the following types of fish: mackerel, herring, pollock, cod, salmon, perch, sardines and tuna.
But there are also those that do not contain many nutrients. Find out below which types of fish are not so useful for eating…
Panga
When we eat fish, it is especially important that it contains a lot of omega-3 fatty acids. Unfortunately, panga practically does not contain them. This freshwater fish with a delicate taste is very popular in our country. In fact, panga comes from Vietnam, where it is grown in terrible conditions. Panga fish are very rare, so they cannot reproduce naturally. For this purpose, breeders give them special hormone injections (with chorionic gonadotropin) and feed them with special food consisting of fish meal, soy and yeast. The result? All the questionable ingredients enter our body through the fish.
Shrimp
The conditions under which shrimp are mass-farmed are often controversial. In addition, many people forget to clean them before eating and add the shrimp to their food along with the waste in their intestines (visible black stripe on their back). Although shrimp are a source of protein, they also contribute to raising bad cholesterol.
Tilapia
Tilapia is an Asian freshwater fish. It is artificially farmed in tanks with polluted water and is also full of hormones and ingredients that encourage rapid growth. Tilapia contains large amounts of arachidonic acid from the omega-6 group, the regular intake of which can cause inflammation, heart disease and cell aging.
Nile perch
It is a fact that Nile perch has lean meat, a lot of protein and is rich in vitamin A. But apart from these few advantages, it is low in omega-3 fatty acids and contains a large amount of palmitic acid. Sounds exotic to you? Unfortunately, this ingredient contributes to the production of bad cholesterol.
Butterfish
It has been confirmed that butterfish contains dangerous, heavy, and unprocessed oleic acid. Frequent consumption of this fish can lead to diarrhea, nausea, and even vomiting.
