American billionaire Elon Musk has responded to Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, who previously wrote to X that there is “no theoretical chance” of Canada becoming part of the United States.

“Girl, you are no longer the governor of Canada, so it doesn’t matter what you say,” Musk replied.

The outgoing Canadian prime minister has rejected US President-elect Donald Trump’s claim that he could use “economic force” to make Canada the 51st state of the United States.

“There is no theoretical chance of Canada becoming part of the United States. Workers and communities in both our countries benefit from being each other’s largest trading and security partners,” Trudeau wrote to X.

Trudeau announced earlier this week that he would resign as prime minister. He explained that he would remain prime minister until a new Liberal Party leader is elected, a date yet to be determined by the party. He asked that parliament be adjourned until March 24 to give the party time to find a new leader.
