Instagram is adding a scheduling feature.
Social media expert Lindsay Gamble revealed the feature, and Instagram confirmed to TechCrunch that it’s rolling out scheduling to all users.
After you compose a message, you simply hold down the send button and you can choose the date and time you want the message to go out.
Messages can apparently be scheduled up to 29 days in advance, and until they’re all sent, you’ll see a banner that says “scheduled messages.”
This will be useful for people who want to schedule birthday messages for a bunch of friends at once, or, for example, remind someone to pick them up from the airport on a specific day.
Instagram is also offering a few limited end-of-year features to help you celebrate the holidays in 2025. First, there’s a story collage tool that’s themed around the end of the year.
There are several New Year-themed “Add Yours” templates, such as one you can use to encourage friends to share photos in a “beginning/end of 2024” format.
Last but not least, if you use certain celebratory emojis or write phrases like “Happy New Year” or “Hello 2025,” the corresponding effects will appear in the chat area.
