Diabetes signs you shouldn’t ignore

Unexplained weight loss, blurred vision, but also dark and thickened skin on the neck, armpits or groin – what are other possible signs of diabetes?

There are three types of diabetes – type 1, type 2 and gestational.

Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease that occurs when the immune system destroys the cells in the pancreas that produce insulin.

This type usually occurs in children and adolescents, but in rare cases it can also occur in adults.

Type 2 diabetes occurs when blood sugar levels are too high and can sometimes occur due to poor lifestyle habits.

Gestational diabetes is a condition that occurs during pregnancy and is characterized by increased blood glucose levels.

This type usually goes away when the pregnancy ends.

Only a doctor can diagnose you with diabetes, but it is important to be aware of the symptoms, especially if you do not take much care of your health or have a family history of the disease.

Some of the most common signs that you may have diabetes:
Darkened and thickened skin
If you notice darker and thicker skin on your body, especially on your neck, armpits, and groin, you may have diabetes.

Sometimes this condition occurs without a specific cause, but sometimes it is associated with diabetes.

Unexplained weight loss
Even if you notice an increased appetite, if you have diabetes, you may be losing weight.

In people with diabetes, sugars from food are not absorbed properly, so the body begins to break down fat deposits and muscle for energy.

Blurred vision
High blood sugar levels can also affect the eyes and sometimes cause blurred vision.

If you have been experiencing this symptom, along with others, for a while, be sure to consult a doctor.

Itching and skin irritation
Diabetes can also cause skin changes, usually characterized as an itchy rash.

The rash most commonly occurs on the buttocks, elbows, and knees, but can also appear on other parts of the body.
