China has unveiled an updated model of a high-speed train that the manufacturer claims has reached speeds of 450 kilometers per hour during tests, making it the fastest train in the world. According to a report by the China State Railway Group, the new model, known as the CR450 prototype, will further shorten travel times and improve connectivity, making travel more convenient and efficient for the country’s vast number of passengers.
According to China Daily, the CR450 prototype has achieved a test speed of 450 kilometers per hour, with key performance indicators – operating speed, energy consumption, interior noise and braking distance – setting a new international standard, Chinese official media reported.
The model is significantly faster than the CR400 Fuxing high-speed train, which is currently in service and can travel at speeds of up to 350 kilometers per hour, according to a report by state-run Xinhua News Agency.
China Railways announced a series of prototype track tests and optimization of technical indicators to ensure that the CR450 will enter commercial use as soon as possible.
According to the latest official data, China’s operational high-speed train lines have reached about 47,000 kilometers, connecting major cities across the country.
Although not profitable, China claims that the expansion of its high-speed rail network has played a key role in the country’s economic and social development, reducing travel times and encouraging industrial development along the railway lines.
According to internal research, rail traffic between Beijing and Shanghai has been the most profitable, while traffic in other cities has not yet become profitable.
