Around 700 Ukrainian soldiers are surrounded near the town of Kurakhovo.

A group of about 700 members of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, including a special forces detachment, is completely surrounded south of the town of Kurakhovo in the DPR, said the co-chairman of the Coordination Council for the Integration of New Regions, Vladimir Rogov.

“A ring has been closed around Ukrainian soldiers south of Kurakhiv in the area of the villages of Uspenovka, Anovka and Vesioli Gai. About 700 Ukrainian army personnel have been surrounded, including a special forces detachment that was recently transferred there. There is no organized resistance or defense. They are trying to break out of the encirclement in scattered groups across the fields,” Rogov explained.

According to him, the main forces of the Ukrainian army are carrying out counterattacks on Russian positions west of Uspenovka in order to break through the exit corridor of the encircled group.

“At the same time, according to intercepted information, before the complete encirclement, a group of the Armed Forces of Ukraine asked the command at least eight times to retreat and evacuate, but they were not allowed to do so,” Rogov said.
