Dr. Eric Berg, author of the best-selling “The Healthy Keto Plan,” specializes in healthy ketosis and intermittent fasting. On his YouTube channel, which has 12.7 million subscribers, he describes the benefits of drinking clove water daily.
Berg says that not only is clove water delicious, but it also has a number of health benefits.
He explained that cloves were once used during the Black Death to relieve pain, as well as in dentistry: “The great thing about them is that they have almost no side effects, and they have antibacterial, antifungal, and antiviral properties against candida.
In addition to numbing the tooth or the pain, it can also attack the microbes that are growing there, whether it’s candida or even a virus.
Daily consumption of clove water can detoxify the liver, relieve bloating, stimulate digestion, relieve respiratory problems such as bronchitis, mucus in the lungs, colds, coughs and asthma, improve memory, focus and concentration and help with blood circulation.
“First, it helps detoxify the liver, so it will stimulate some of the enzymes that help break down substances in the liver, it will help with digestion, bloating and gas. Consume it after a meal. Another very powerful effect of clove water is for respiratory problems such as bronchitis, mucus in the lungs, colds, coughs, asthma,” says the doctor.
Natural antibiotic
He then adds, “You can think of it as a natural antibiotic, but without the side effects. Some people also use it for memory, concentration, and focus, but this clove water also works on the heart, so it can actually keep the heart healthy, and especially the blood circulation.
It also has immune-boosting properties, so it can help maintain a healthy immune system because it’s antimicrobial. Some people even use it as a mouthwash to freshen their breath.”
The doctor also adds that this water can be used as a sleep drink because it’s a natural sedative with no negative effects and no side effects like sleeping pills, and it also has a little tryptophan which will actually increase serotonin and help you increase melatonin.
Berg recommends drinking clove water 30 minutes before bed.
“I would drink this before bed, it seems to work really well because it helps you relax and can help you fall asleep,” he advises.
How to make it?
Take four or five cloves, add a cup of water and boil them in a pot. Remove from the stove once it boils and then return to a low simmer for five minutes (cover to prevent steam).
Let it cool for an hour. You can leave the drink in the refrigerator. If desired, add half a teaspoon of honey to sweeten it.
