Trump appoints three famous movie stars as special envoys for ‘troubled Hollywood’

Donald Trump has appointed actors Mel Gibson, Jon Voight and Sylvester Stallone as his special envoys to Hollywood.

US President-elect Donald Trump announced his decision on the Truth Social platform, stating that the three actors, who openly support him, will work as his ambassadors to make Hollywood “bigger, better and stronger than ever before.”

“I am honored to announce the appointments of these three very talented men. They will serve as my special envoys to fix Hollywood, which has lost a lot of business over the last four years,” Trump said, among other things.

“They will be my eyes and ears, and I will do what they tell me to do. It will be a golden age for Hollywood again!” Trump said.

For now, Gibson has spoken out, saying he received the news “at the same time as all of you and it was very surprising.”

“I accepted the invitation, though.”

“It’s my duty as a citizen to provide any assistance and insight I can,” he added.

American film and television production has been hampered in recent years by setbacks from the Covid pandemic, strikes since 2023, and now it’s under fire in Los Angeles.

Total production in the US is down 26% compared to 2021, according to data from ProdPro.

In the greater Los Angeles area, production fell 5.6% from 2023, according to FilmLA, the lowest level since 2020.
